Recruitment Skills Training Australia: Introducing TAAA’s First Learning Opportunities

Recruitment skills training in Australia plays an important role in building a more capable, confident and professional Talent Acquisition community.

With the Talent Acquisition Association of Australia (TAAA) now officially launched, Hill Consulting HRS is excited to deliver the Association’s first live online training opportunities, helping recruitment professionals and hiring managers strengthen their skills and knowledge.

As a co-founder of TAAA, Hill Consulting HRS Managing Director Rachel Hill is passionate about supporting the development of practical recruitment skills and contributing to TAAA’s ambition to strengthen professional standards across Australia..

Why practical recruitment training matters

Recruitment has a significant impact on organisations, candidates and the wider workforce. Yet the skills needed to recruit effectively are not always developed through formal training.

Talent Acquisition professionals need to understand the full recruitment process, attract and assess candidates effectively, work confidently with hiring managers and keep up with changing technology, legislation and candidate expectations.

Hiring managers also play a critical role. Their decisions and interactions can influence everything from candidate experience and fairness to the quality of hiring decisions.

Providing practical training across these areas helps build a shared understanding of good recruitment practice and supports a more consistent approach.

Through these first TAAA learning opportunities, Hill Consulting HRS will deliver training designed to help participants apply what they learn directly to their roles.

1. TA Fundamentals – Talent Acquisition Skills Training

21–22 October 2026 | Live online

Talent Acquisition is about much more than filling vacancies. It requires a sound understanding of recruitment principles, candidate attraction, assessment, stakeholder relationships and the skills needed to deliver an effective recruitment process.

TA Fundamentals is a practical two-day program designed to build the essential knowledge and skills needed for strong Talent Acquisition practice.

It's suited to people developing their recruitment capability and those looking to strengthen their understanding of the fundamentals, helping establish a solid foundation for effective, professional recruitment.

What you'll gain: A stronger grounding in Talent Acquisition skills and practical approaches you can apply in your day-to-day recruitment work.

2. EEO and the Law in Recruitment – Micro-Credential

30 October 2026 | Live online

Fair, consistent and legally informed recruitment is essential to good hiring practice.

Recruitment professionals and hiring managers need to understand the legal considerations that apply throughout the recruitment process, including equal employment opportunity (EEO) and the importance of fair and appropriate decision-making.

This focused micro-credential explores EEO and key legal considerations in recruitment, helping participants better understand their responsibilities and apply that knowledge in their everyday work.

What you'll gain: Greater awareness of EEO and relevant legal considerations, supporting fairer, more informed recruitment practices.

3. Recruitment Skills Training for Hiring Managers

4–5 November 2026 | Live online

Hiring managers have a major influence on recruitment outcomes, but many step into the role without formal training in how to recruit effectively.

From defining role requirements and assessing candidates to conducting interviews and working in partnership with Talent Acquisition, hiring managers need practical skills to make confident, informed hiring decisions.

This two-day program is designed to help hiring managers strengthen those skills and become more effective partners in the recruitment process.

What you'll gain: Practical tools and techniques to support better recruitment decisions, more effective collaboration with Talent Acquisition and a stronger candidate experience.

Supporting a stronger national standard

These first three learning opportunities are an important starting point in bringing practical recruitment development to the TAAA community.

By supporting the development of professional skills and knowledge across both Talent Acquisition teams and hiring managers, TAAA and Hill Consulting HRS aim to contribute to a more consistent and capable recruitment profession.

This work sits alongside TAAA’s broader focus on professional development, career pathways, industry standards and the proposed Certificate IV and Diploma in Talent Acquisition.

As the Association grows, there will be further opportunities to develop learning, share industry knowledge and support people at different stages of their recruitment careers.

Keep building your recruitment capability

Whether you're working in Talent Acquisition, leading a recruitment function or hiring as part of your management role, investing in recruitment skills can make a real difference to how effectively you attract, assess and appoint people.

We encourage you to explore these first TAAA learning opportunities and find the session that best suits your needs.
