The Talent Acquisition Association of Australia Has Officially Launched

After months of planning, development, consultation and plenty of work behind the scenes, the Talent Acquisition Association of Australia (TAAA) has officially launched, marking an exciting milestone for the Talent Acquisition profession in Australia.

Rachel Hill, Managing Director of Hill Consulting HRS, is incredibly proud to have co-founded TAAA alongside Craig Watson, taking on the role of Co-Founder and Director to help bring this shared vision to life.

For Rachel, the launch represents much more than establishing another industry association. It’s about creating a dedicated national body that recognises Talent Acquisition as a profession, supports ongoing professional development and gives the people working in it a stronger collective voice.

Talent Acquisition has evolved enormously over the years, playing an increasingly important role in workforce strategy, employer brand, candidate experience, technology, AI and broader organisational capability. Yet there is still plenty of work to do to strengthen professional recognition, build capability and create clearer career pathways.

TAAA aims to help make that happen.

A new professional home for Talent Acquisition

TAAA has been established to support, connect and advance people working in Talent Acquisition, bringing together practitioners, leaders, employers, educators and industry partners who want to contribute to the future of the profession.

Its focus includes:

  • Professional development, training and qualifications
  • Professional standards and career pathways
  • Events, networking and community connections
  • Resources and industry insights
  • Advocacy and research
  • Industry partnerships and advisory support

Just as importantly, TAAA wants the profession itself to help shape its direction, ensuring its priorities reflect the experiences, challenges and aspirations of the people working across the Talent Acquisition landscape.

Building a stronger national standard for Talent Acquisition

A key part of TAAA’s vision is strengthening the professional capability, consistency and recognition of Talent Acquisition across Australia.

This is an area that has been at the heart of Hill Consulting HRS for many years. Through practical recruitment training, Talent Acquisition capability development, recruitment health checks and advisory services, we work with organisations to improve recruitment practice and help their people recruit better.

As a co-founder and Director of TAAA, Rachel is passionate about bringing that practical experience into the Association’s broader work to advance the profession.

Hill Consulting HRS will continue to offer its expertise, services and training to support TAAA’s objectives, helping to build the skills, knowledge and professional standards needed across the industry.

This includes supporting the development of practical learning opportunities for Talent Acquisition professionals and hiring managers, alongside the broader work to strengthen professional development and career pathways.

The ambition is to help create a more consistent, capable and recognised profession nationally, with practical training and development that reflects the realities of recruitment today.

Progressing Talent Acquisition qualifications

Another important part of this work is the development of the proposed Certificate IV in Talent Acquisition and Diploma of Talent Acquisition Management.

Both qualifications have progressed to the next stage of the ASQA review and feedback process, with further refinements still to be completed.

The proposed qualifications are part of the broader effort to establish clearer career pathways and stronger professional development opportunities for people working in Talent Acquisition.

Together with practical training, industry collaboration and professional standards, they represent an important step towards a stronger foundation for the profession.

Introducing TAAA’s Founding National Advisory Council

TAAA has also established its Founding National Advisory Council, bringing together experienced Talent Acquisition leaders to provide industry insight and strategic guidance during the Association’s formative years.

The Council will contribute to discussions around professionalisation, ethical practice, industry standards, research and the future priorities of the profession.

It also provides another avenue for experienced professionals to contribute their knowledge and help shape the direction of TAAA as it develops.

Membership is now open

TAAA is welcoming Talent Acquisition professionals, students and organisations looking to strengthen their internal recruitment capability. A separate Vendor Membership category is also available for eligible organisations providing products and services to the Talent Acquisition industry.

During the Foundation Year, Professional, Student and Corporate Memberships are free until 30 June 2027, providing an opportunity to get involved from the beginning and help shape the Association’s future.

Fellow Membership is also available for experienced Talent Acquisition professionals who meet the relevant criteria and want to have their experience and contribution to the profession recognised.

Whether you work in-house, lead a TA function, are developing your career or support the industry in another capacity, TAAA welcomes you to become part of the community.

What comes next?

The launch of TAAA is an exciting beginning, with plenty ahead as the Association builds its community, develops learning opportunities and works towards a stronger professional future for Talent Acquisition in Australia.

For Rachel and the Hill Consulting HRS team, it brings together two closely connected ambitions: supporting the profession at a national level while continuing to help organisations and their people improve recruitment practice every day.

We look forward to contributing our experience, services and training to this next chapter, working alongside TAAA and the wider Talent Acquisition community to build capability, strengthen professional recognition and help more people Recruit Better.
